Recreate the colorful details of a Madame Grès three-piece ensemble from the MdHS Fashion Archives.
This 1969-1970 three-piece, blue silk gazar ensemble (blouse, shorts, and skirt) features embroidered and sequined flowers. Madame Grès, born Germaine Émilie Krebs, was a leading French couturier remembered as the “Sphinx of Fashion.” Her client list included Paloma Picasso, Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, and Wallis Simpson, the wearer of the museum’s piece. Madame Grès was best known for her use of drapery (particularly her Grecian inspired dresses), but in 1970 she changed direction and highlighted the flesh, which is seen in this ensemble.
Photograph of the full ensemble on the back label. 100 piece puzzle measures approximately 9" x 12" when complete.
