Any film to be screened in a Maryland theater was first subject to the Maryland State Board of Censors. This seal proved that the Censor Board had viewed and deemed a film "appropriate" for the public. Each movie received its own seal with a unique documentation number, which was put on a film strip and then spliced into the beginning of each reel. These shirts were made for the premiere of the 2018 documentary Sickies Making Films, by Joe Tropea, which explores the true and often hilarious history of film censorship in America.
